History and Current Strategies for the management of Tuta absoluta

The history and the progress of the Tuta absoluta epidemic in The Mediterranean region were reviewed by Dr Shakir Al-Zaidi Russell IPM. The lessons learnt from the surprisingly fast progress of the pest were highlighted. The presentation also presents some prediction for the future direction of the Tuta absoluta territorial expansion in Asia and Africa. The presentation also reviewed the role of Bio-rational pesticides as well as the contribution of pheromone based products in the management of the pest in the region.
